Rhomobile’s free and open source mobile application framework Rhodes lets you quickly build native mobile applications for all smartphones: iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7 and Android. These are true native device applications (not mobile web apps) which work with synchronized local data and take advantage of device capabilities such as GPS, PIM contacts, camera, native mapping, push, alerts and calendar. Rhodes invented the smartphone app framework category two years ago and has had over 50,000 open source downloads since then. Rhodes is the only smartphone framework with support for all smartphones, a Model View Controller pattern, and, most importantly, optional connectivity to our RhoSync smartphone app integration server.
The RhoConnect mobile app integration makes it easy to connect smartphone apps (whether they are written with Rhodes, Objective-C or even another framework) to backend applications. This eliminates the work in any smartphone app to connect, retrieve, parse and manage local data storage in their apps – from 40 to 70 percent of the effort in building a smartphone enterprise app. It also provides synchronized offline data. RhoConnect is the most scalable mobile sync server on the market, and the only one to leverage the native push APIs of modern smartphones.
To make development of applications with the Rhodes framework even easier, Rhomobile offers RhoHub, the world’s first Development as a Service for Mobile. RhoHub lets developers develop and build native smartphone apps online from the RhoHub website (no installation of development or build tools to their own laptops required). Once completed, these apps can be hosted at runtime (including hosting of the sync server) from the RhoHub site, used by over 20,000 developers. RhoHub also provides the industry’s only hosted app management solution, RhoGallery, available for free to all RhoHub subscribers.
Founded by a team of Silicon Valley veterans, Rhomobile is backed by vSpring Capital and Alta Ventures
